Which is better – Human Hair or Synthetic Fibre?

Elite Hair Alternatives believes human hair is superior to synthetic fibre for virtually all applications. Synthetic fibre has many benefits with use of grays used in conjunction with human hair as a percentage. We can match all textures and colors with treated human hair.

On the occasions that an all over synthetic blend is used the client is informed of the limitations that may occur. Synthetic Hair can look natural with careful design and extensive consideration for the look required and the density to match.

Clients do find human hair much easier to maintain because they are familiar with working with human hair as opposed to synthetic.

Do you have Pre-Custom systems available or do I have to order Custom systems?

All Elite Hair Alternatives products and systems are 100% handmade using the finest and most technologically advanced materials and innovative designs available. Pre-Custom refers to products that are available immediately as the design, size, color etc has been predetermined as a starting point. One important benefit to having Pre-Custom is certainly the immediacy for delivery, but also that our Pre-Custom is extremely versatile in application and use. We can easily manipulate the color, density and even the size of the Pre-Custom systems. Custom systems are specifically designed for a client and are developed from individual specifications such as molds (known as templates) hair samples and density differences.

Depending on the immediacy of your need and/or the specific application, we offer both services. Our on-line shop has every option for you.

How long does it take to develop and complete a Custom system?

True custom orders generally take 4-7 weeks from the time the order has been processed. It is possible to get a ‘priority’ placed on certain orders, saving approximately 1-2 weeks off the completion date.

Are all cranial systems the same?

No! Fashion Wigs are all very different, they are constructed with heavy wefts, elastic, and heavy itchy fabric and are never meant to touch a sensitive scalp. They are designed to go 'over hair' as they rely mainly on how 'tight' the wig can be adjusted (one size fits all concept). Common complaints include discomfort, tightness, sweating considerably and a 'closing in' feeling due to too much hair as wearers are forced to wear bands and have too much hair around their face.

Is it true that human hair systems are too much and are hard to maintain?

Only if they are of heavy material and of heavy density, in other words unrealistic!

Elite Hair Alternatives’ systems are all hand-tied and of the best quality. Human hair systems can be extremely easy to maintain. As clients are already familiar with how to work with human hair. With proper instruction, washing and styling can be as simple as one's own hair, yet requiring less effort than one's own hair.

Synthetic wigs are made from acrylic/plastic synthetic fiber which is a material that is foreign to most individuals. Also synthetic fiber is extremely sensitive to heat, sun, blow dryers and ovens. Unfortunately this material breaks down within a matter of months, leaving a dull, frayed, and 'over processed' appearance.

Synthetic wigs are extremely limited in style ability and versatility.

How much do your cranial systems cost?

$500 up to $2,000. Depending on length of hair needed, color work required, density, hair texture used , and whether the system is semi-custom or fully customized. Some types of hair sourced cost more per ounce than others.

How long do your cranials last?

A difficult question but we will do our best to explain. Today materials are available that you can literally use once and then dispose! For example we have members of the Elite Hair Club that are on this kind of program and this suits their lifestyle. A good equivalent would be contact lenses!

Generally our systems that are worn on a permanent basis have a lifespan of 6 to 24 months. This can be extended by reconditioning which can include added hair, color adjustments and simple repairs/reinforcements. The greatest determining factor for the longevity of our systems is the client care protocol and adherence to that protocol.

I only will need a wig for 6-12 months due to chemotherapy, so am I better off getting an inexpensive wig at my local shop?

With a passion, Elite Hair Alternatives has developed an incredible product for the person going through chemotherapy. We are 'totally' of the believe that this client must feel as good as possible about her/himself during this difficult time. Our product can and has made the difference. It is impossible to predict how quickly anyone will go bald, from when they start to notice significant hair loss. Most men take 10 to 20 years to become completely bald, but a few are completely bald after only a few years.

A tendency to baldness is inherited and probably involves a combination of genes. So you are not automatically in the clear even if your father has a full head of hair. It is not true, as sometimes claimed, that 'only' genes from the mother's side are involved.

Brushing the hair 100 times a day will stimulate the circulation and prevent hair loss?

Vigorous brushing is more likely to injure the hairs and make problems worse.

Some hairstyles, like braiding can cause hair loss?

Hats encourage hair loss because the hair can't breathe?

Hair doesn't need to breathe. Only the root of the hair is alive, and this gets its oxygen from the blood in the scalp.

Frequent shampooing makes hair fall out?

False

The 50-150 hairs we lose each day often become tangled with the rest of the hair, but are washed out when we shampoo. So we see what seems like a lot of hair in the tub after shampooing, but in reality these hairs have been shed earlier.

Blow-drying can worsen hair loss?

True

The reason is that extreme heat damages the proteins in the hairs, making them fragile and liable to break off. Brushing the hair during blow-drying causes more damage. If you use a hair dryer it should be set on the coolest setting.

 

Suggestions

• Wash your hair daily with mild shampoo, dirty hair lies flatter and looks more sparse.
• Use a cream rinse detangler to undo any tangles, rather than pulling with a comb.
• Avoid anything that could make the hairs liable to break. After washing don't rub your hair vigorously or use a hot hairdryer. Instead pat the hair dry with a soft towel, or use a low setting on the dryer, or even better, let it dry naturally. Use a brush with soft bristles.
• Protect bald areas from sun damage. Products with sunscreen should be used.

Will utilizing your hair replacement have a detrimental effect on my healthy growing hair?

No. Our philosophy, first and foremost, is to utilize and use as much as of the clients own hair as possible when designing a hair loss solution/system. Unlike standard hair replacement, we only 'reconstruct' the area that needs hair, and adhere to SAFE and dermatological correct protocol to do so. If you decide at some point not to continue with hair replacement, your existing hair will not be affected.

Do I have to shave my head to fully benefit from your hair replacement?

YES & NO - Please read carefully!

As of the last question we utilize as much of your hair as we can. The more that of your own hair is used (as long as it is healthy) the better the final appearance will be. There are several different applications that will determine what is best for each individual client.

We have had enormous success with ladies who are suffering a thinning of the scalp area where we place the system and adhere in such a way that ABSOLUTELY NO shaving of the hair is required for this procedure to work. We have delighted ladies that have a permanent system that looks and feels completely natural with fantastic security. It is normal for this client to return to the center for their haircut every 5 to 7 weeks.

Integration systems work the same, a high percentage of our clientele have no real hairloss, they simply desire more hair for today's look. We utilize all the client’s hair to achieve incredible flexibility and a fabulous looking end result.

With male clients who wish to receive a 'full head bond' attachment taking the hair down in the area that the system is required will help the application. Though pasting the hair in the growing direction can be an option. Semi-permanent hair replacement clients that we have through our on-line shop are taught how to achieve maximum benefits by our trained technical support customer service consultants. Most male clients except that male pattern baldness has 'set in' and allow our technicians to take their hair down to the length that will benefit the application being used. I want to have some hair transplants. Will wearing a hair system affect my transplants?

Firstly, if you decide to have transplants, research thoroughly to find the right surgeon. Elite Hair Alternatives recommend Medical Hair Restoration (MHR). We work closely with MHR and the client who has chosen hair transplants. See our TRANSPLACEMENT section on this site for details.

How often am I going to need to have my hair color refreshed?

The frequency of hair color refreshing, or as we call it Color Correction depends on the color of the hair. Black will fade far more slowly than Blonde, 'why' purely because of the integrity of the hair shafts base color. The honest answer would be four to six times a year for a system that has been designed for longevity. Just for a moment, let's think of the fortunate souls that have NO hair loss but decide to have, may be highlights, or their gray colored. When that decision has been made, a monthly color correction will be needed!

What we strive for is excellence at the start off point. We work with a base color from the beginning of an order, we also include a mix above and below close to the color that has been chosen - one of the many reasons why our clients hair looks so natural.

The Elite Hair Club members do not experience any color correcting during their annual membership.

What about hair breakage? How often will those hairs need to be added back to the system?

Hair shedding is as natural on a hair system as it is on a normal head of hair. Our in-house ventilators and factory are available for any emergency. Some clients are rough on their hair and may need hair addition every four months.

Our on-line shop is so competitive on pricing that is is normal for our clients to purchase enough hair not to have to worry about hair shedding. Our education for the 'care of your hair' will secure the longevity of your hair system.

How long does the procedure take once I have ordered?

If it is a pre-custom, you can have your new look within 10 days. The fitting usually takes 3 hours. If it is a fully customized system the design takes between 4-7 weeks, again the fitting usually takes 3 hours.

It is important to me that no one will feel my system during intimate moments - is this possible?

Elite Hair Alternatives designs are light, contoured and fit like a glove. The systems are extremely thin, they are almost impossible to feel, certainly in intimate moments. You would have to pick through the hair concentrating solely on the purpose of detection for our systems to be noticeable.

I live far away from your salon locations. Can I go anywhere to have my monthly trims or first fitting? When I am wearing a system is there anything special that the stylist should know?

The answer is yes you can. Elite Hair Alternatives has set up a affiliation where your hair is taken care of anywhere. If you have your own stylist we will communicate with him/her to make sure everything they need to know is secured. We are happy to grow our affiliation and educate any hairstylist that has the same desire as our technical staff. We offer this service..'In our time and our dime' as this is a free service.

How is it possible for me to do my own attachments?

Having two systems makes it convenient for you to do your own attachments. When it is time to do your own attachment you simply remove your system, clean your scalp and attach the other. our on-line shop has all the products you will need for this service, as well as all the relevant customer service help that you will require.

How long do your systems last?

This has been answered previously, but for the record…

One thing Elite Hair Alternatives will state is that if any company claims that two systems will last 6-8 years, we will say on record that this is a complete lie. 'Simply' if you wore the best suit everyday for 8 years, would it look good? – No it wouldn’t.

Do you have a repair service?

Elite Hair Alternatives are fortunate to have as members of staff the Carla family, professional ventilators and hair system repairers. The Carla family came to the USA from Equador in the 1980’s as professional hair system makers. You can find more about Carla's repair service at the on-line shop.

Most repairs are completed in house, sometimes repairs will be sent to our factory for a full 'make over' if required. Our Elite Hair Club membership almost eradicates the need for repairs.

Do you maintain other manufacturer’s wigs or hair systems?

'YES' but we will be very honest, if it is good we will tell you and if it is bad we will tell you.

There are plenty of competitors who do a good job and quite often we will make a system from the design an add our qualities to this. Our on-line shop receives hundreds of systems from 'new' clients to use as a base for size, to replicate the same, or add the Elite Hair Alternatives’ quality for a very competitive price.

Are your attachment methods expensive? Is this an extra charge?

Firstly we have created a fabulous result for you that has given you your hair back, and most importantly it looks natural. The cost ranges from $50 to $120 this can include a color correction of your own hair.
